The accused (Dyabana Odwa, Ngangelizwe Luthando and Qhayiso Siseko) were convicted of multiple serious violent offences arising from a planned daylight robbery on a farm. Using deceit, they kidnapped several victims, robbed them with firearms, pointed firearms at them, and subjected them to violence and torture. During the incident, one victim (Mrs Fokeni) died as a result of the conduct of accused 1, leading to a conviction for culpable homicide, and another victim suffered catastrophic injuries including the loss of a limb. Firearms and ammunition were unlawfully possessed, and a vehicle was recklessly driven and written off. Accused 1 and 2 had been in custody since February 2024, while accused 4 was arrested later. All accused were first offenders with minor children. Accused 3 was acquitted on all charges.
